Ramesses saw this opportunity to counter attack against the complacent Hittites. The Egyptians were the winners on the day but they hadn't achieved what they had set out to do in the first place and that was to recapture K-desh. Chasing them into a hasty retreat with many being forced into the Arontis river amid all the chaos.
