The Northern Manhattan Stroke Study

The Northern Manhattan stroke study was the first of its kind in many ways. The Framingham study that Ralph had been involved with is probably the most famous cardiovascular study, which provided a lot of evidence about cardiovascular risk factors and outcomes. Over time, as the population aged, we began to shift from looking just at stroke as an outcome to also looking at cognitive decline, aging and dementia. And so his interests evolved as well to looking more broadly than stroke and looking at brain health itself.
