Manu Otar is the author of a new cookbook, Manu: Recipes and stories from my Brazil. She went to university for one semester before working at a ski resort in Washington state. The experience changed her outlook on everything; she didn't go back to journalism after that. Her book does a terrific job of both telling your story and showcasing the food.
