The Optics of Astronomy
Saran Saran is working on a way to mine water from asteroids. He and his team have created an inflatable reflector that can focus sunlight inside it. The light will break up the asteroid's surface into small pieces, which are then scattered in space. They say they could store 100 tons of ice in a thin film bag weighing just a few hundred kilograms. This would be used as propellant for future missions to Mars or Earth.
