China's one child policy may have had extremely painful consequences, but reversing it has also been deeply problematic. In 2015, Chinese Prime Minister Wen Zhao Bao decreed that Chinese couples were now allowed to have two children. But by this time, many of them didn't want to. A lower birth rate also created distortions for the younger generation.
