Mel's thoughts turn to the school staff who'd worked so hard to keep the students calm. We got them a box of chocolates for the staff room because I thought they did really well and they got quite a rough deal with some of the other parents. Quickly the event became seen as a quirk. A blip in the human psyche. Different pieces sprang up in the Guardian and York supposed on whether it might be a simple case of mass hysteria. When we consign sociogenic events to the realm of pure psychology we risk underestimating them or explaining them away.
