Kubernetes and the Microservices Architecture

The trend to microservices, I think, was really accelerated by things like Kubernetes. It made something that was previously technically infeasible quite okay because we could have these lightweight units and somebody could take care of stopping and starting and scaling them. Netflix did a lot of pioneering work in this area, but did it all kind of against Amazon, Amazon's cloud. And then Twitter did a bunch of interesting work with MASSOS.
