The Importance of Consciousness in AI
When it's good enough to be an independent programmer it would be good but I'm very concerned with such systems because from what I understand the bugs they would introduce would be very different from typical bugs human programmers will introduce. So yeah long term I don't think it's a very good thing for us that we no longer can keep up with debugging process. Then there's the question of consciousness so one objection to AGI or the strong AI or whatever you want to call it is that AI won't be conscious and therefore can't be human level. For me at least there seems to be some confusion of concepts between intelligence and consciousness I consider these to be separable.
