decodering is a show about cracking cultural mysteries where the mysteries are extremely largely construed so it's just like um so listen the job of a critic is to take an object and to say be like say something interesting about it like that's what a critics job is and i think that is actually also like decodering's job. Every episode is organized around a question but they aren't always questions you've always been wondering about basicallythey can we sort of we sort of retrofit them to the actual topic at hand like every episode is like what happened to the laugh track why don’t we eat blue food like ohThey can be really specific you know like they aren't
Willa Paskin, a former TV critic, is the host of the podcast Decoder Ring.
“I want it to feel like a trap door. When you push on a trap door, there’s like a little spring. If it’s the right idea, you start to look into it, and you’re like, Oh, it’s giving a little.”
