CHAPTER

How Old Is a Bear in the Wild?

Teddy Ruxpin was invented by Ken Forsy, whose previous work involved co-founding Chucky Cheese and engineering Disney's animatronic country bear, Janbury. The oldest bear that's known in research right now in the wild is Bear 399, she's called. She's in Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone, the greater Yellowstone ecosystem. An established healthy dominant bear is usually sort of 10, 11, 12 years old. By the time they're in their mid 20s, like three nine nine, they don't look like a healthy, happy bear anymore.
