The Threefold Movement of Exodus
The wholeburnt offering, the name olah, the ascending one, points as to that column of smoke. It's also the offering where the entire animal, apart from its skin, is placed on the altar. So it has the idea of consecration. And then the peace offering is under that rubric of offerings, where te the worshipper, actually got to partake of some of the meat himself. The movement is from expiation to consecration to fellowship.
