You Still Don't Deserve It, Even if You Believe in the Gospel
Just because you have the capacity to believe in the gospel and humble yourself, doesn't mean you deserve it any more. Confessing that you're a sinner doesn't do away with the debt of sin. Humbling yourself and confessing that you're useless is, in itself, worthless. It's a filthy rag. If not for the grace of the incarnation and the atonement provided by calvary. And this act of god is an act of mercy and grace on our behalf that we did not deserve. On calvinism, you have the best excuse in the world for your unbelief.
