The Problem With Writing as a Technology
I argue that writing as a technology is kind of like a sailboat, right? That it's a limited technology in terms of expanding the mind and what it does to your mind. You lose a bit of your faculty for memory, but you keep a lot of your other mental faculties. I just think that we're offering up the anti sacrament of persons communicating across time and space and not actually being really present to each other.
