Kant was born 17 24 in prussia. He's fortunate enough to be at the tail end of this long debate that's been going on between the continental rationalists and the british empiricists. This gives him a very unique ability to see all the effects of all their work as they're applied to secular institutions. And boy, did it serve him well. As we've been talking about for the last dozen or so episodes of the podcast, the world has been changed. In many ways, kant thought that this all started with copernicus.
