The Theory Method Gap in Personality Psychology
There are many valid criticisms of the Big Five as a descriptive taxonomic personality structure. The misalignment of these is what some have called the theory method gap. Personality, regardless of how it's defined, can be both relatively stable over time and also exhibit change. In part, this can be traced to differences in interpretation on what it means for one's personality to change.
