The chinese developed landscape long before we did. As early as 700 a d the very least, there were landscape painters in china. They always saw man in the context of nature. And they had also a different concept of perspective. Our convention of perspective is that things become smaller as they are far away from you and less important. A lot of people just don't comprehend it at all.
