Julian Zelizer: People can relate to the don't worry darlings scandal, but they can't really because, you know, they're not million selling pop stars. I think there is something that perhaps speaks to people who have gone through a divorce or they've been bankrupted and then read about celebrities. And it is hugely unedifying. If you are that person to have all of your dirty laundry and in the public eye, I mean, it must be hugely, hugely embarrassing. But also we can all be subjects or targets of gossip. None of us really want to be seen as being too involved in it.
