The most straightforward way to gain confidence as a consultant is to narrow the scope of your work. If you're selling to a prospect and you believe that they have a much higher chance of success working with you, even if you don't have all the hows and the ifs and the butts figured out, then I believe you have a moral obligation to sell them.
