Using Python to Compile NumPy Rays
The design goals of number were to make a possible to write functions that could be compiled and have them used for NumPy rays, like they needed to support NumPy rays. Number got written three times. The first two, three versions were not great, right? But they solved a problem and so people could try it and we could get some feedback on it. And then it was also because we had a use case that that could work early. It's almost like four loops like focusing on four loops, scalar arithmetic, you know, typed language, a type subset. That was the key.
