Is Religion a Product of Evolution?

Dawkins is effectively a mentor of mine although I had never met him until October when we met in Chicago. He retreated on beliefs that he once held in order to protect this one, says Dawkins. Have you maintained a dialogue with him since the event in Chicago? I wish I could say yes but I have and I would like to have had but I'm not sure how open he is to me.
