The History of Demonization

I was in Brazil right before Bolsonaro was elected and there was a rather large demonstration against me by right-wing Christian groups who thought I represented the concept of gender or what they call the ideology of gender. There was quite a fantasy going on there, drawing from medieval and even more recent bits of history regarding witch burning but also transphobia and other elements. So I do think fantasy operates at a social political level in ways that we don't always know how to think about which is why I wish more people in or psychoanalytically informed or trained would enter into public discourse to show why this is a useful way to think.
