The Future of Lithium

Batteries are expected to account for 95% of the lithium demand in 2030. Today's global lithium market is something on the order of half a million tons per year of lithium carbonate equivalent. Half of that comes from South America where lithium chemicals are produced, mostly lithium carbonate. Just over half of that is produced from Australian mineral concentrates, which are shipped to China and chemicals are produced from those mineral concentrate in China.
