The first patient was treated with phages in 1919 by Felix Dorell at the Pasteur Institute. Antibiotics have been on the rise ever since and are essential to modern medicine. But there is a downside, which is that bacteria are becoming increasingly resistant to them. So all of this means that phage therapy should be rescued from the dustbin of history. They're not an emerging technology. They're a technology that emerged and got forgotten about.
