Is Hedging Demand Predicting the Value Premium?

A lot of people have called for the death of the value premium. Does this finding tell us anything about expected persistence? It does if the hetoriginaity in the ownership that we observe is driven by risk exposures, and individuals remain just as exposed to day as they used to be ten years ago. So there could be long periods, extended periods, where the value stocks unter perform - especially in case of bad recessions. But i wouldn't necessarily view it as an increase in hedging demand from the young investors. The baby boomers are born a substantial fraction of total assets. They used to be exposed to economic risk through their jobs, but increasingly theyare moving into retirement
