Learning From Scratch in the Brain
You could think of these as memory systems in a sort of very broad and abstract sense. I just call them learning from scratch. You can't get anything useful out of your blank flash drive until you've already written information onto the flash drive. And by the time the organism is an adult, they are sending out very useful, ecologically useful outputs that help the organism thrive and reproduce.
