How to Optimize Vocal Compressors?

I do tend to like to hear vocals in a wa whay, where i hear every word. But i also do not like audible compression on vocals. A vocal compressor fights against different arrangements in any part of the arrangement. So i actually split vocals into pro my assistance seas a minimum five, bt, probably ten, tracts because you can optimize a section. The blender should be one stereo file.
