i think if you want to find some kind of social commentary there, that might be deadlike certain events in the past do not secure you for similar threats in the present. There's this like sense of like wanting to capture very explicitly the monster but also talk about the monster. I'm not inside that experience, so i don't think i have eough familiarity with it to really tease out exactly what he's getting at. But reading the text like that, there seems to be some subtext there that might be relevant. That subtext deathly informs whatever this movie is about.
