The Problem With Liberals

In many of her writings on the subject of this political group is that she puts it in scare quotes, liberals. She rejects both terms because they don't pick out clearly anything discernible and pollute our ability to think about the political scene. In the 1930s, liberal came to mean left wing in effect with a whole program of reforming society designed to reshape the economy. By the 1960s when she's writing more about liberals,  her analysis that liberal has a game changed.
