Sis, big Sis, expanded rapidly in the 1930s and opened bases to help it concentrate on the Pacific theater. During World War II, Sis played a crucial role in helping to crack some of these Japanese codes. After the war, President Truman reorganized the entire American pursuit of this sort of intelligence under something he called National Security Agency. In 1957, the NSA moved to Fort Meade in Maryland.
