The Coherency and Purpose of the Universe
You have a lovely quote from a quotation by H.G. Wells in which he speaks of the coherency and purpose in the world. Would you say a word or two about cohe consistency and purpose with regard to what you've just been saying about diversity? Yes, well, I mean, evolution is, to me, the driving force of the universe at all levels down to the genes. And it's a process that's taking this very boring dilute gas, which was started with the universe, nothing but hot, hot hydrogen and helium. The purpose is emerging from this process of evolution. Purpose emerges gradually, but in the end that's the driving force.
