Acemites are a kind of fringe school of thought, particularly common in italy. They tend to be underground because their ideas are not totally popular. Not embraced by the church, certainly, although they aren't necessarily explicitly condemned either. A so this is where, this is the first time that we see someone put forward this idea that history fits into three ages, three eras. The same sort of notion, this tripartite model of history, gets taken up again in the 14 hundreds among florentine humanists.
