CHAPTER

The Relationship Between Men and Women in Ball Room Dancing

The author spent time at a leading dance school in the south of england with dancers age from their twenties to their eighties. She found that men and women had got involved in ball room dancing at different life stages from each other, with women starting much younger. This leads to questions around masculinity and sexuality for boys that are dancing and men who are dancing. And i think this connects with the gendered socialization for boys and girls, that dancing has traditionally been seen as more of a natural pastime for girls.
