Atari was founded in the mid-70s by Don Valentine and Joe Jean-Lippkin. They were trying to get a corporate partner when they met with Mike Markle, who went on to become Apple's first president. The company would eventually be sold for $45 million after going public in 76. "I had a lot of hay coming out of my shirt, what have you," he says about his Atari days.
