The Importance of Stories and Poetry in Us as Human Beings

I want to talk about what you've learned, what you know and are learning about, what stories and poetry work in us as human beings. One thing that strikes me is the importance of people telling their story in a way that only they can tell it. I think that, how do I phrase this?
