What's the Point of Modelling?

i think there's a lot of pressure on these academics. Thet they might be doing something which is pushing ministers, in some way, into a decision which they don't necessarily need to make. And also, other thing about the models themselves, as they are black boxes, there are so many lines of code and complicated equations that go into them. It's not like anyone outside the modelling world could have a look at how they actually operate.
