What Does History Tell Us About Powell's Actions?
Powell's actions will have an effect on US politics, whether he lowers interest rates or keeps them low. The labor market is too strong, and the inflation rate appears to be now beginning to move in the right direction. But confronting the Fed would probably be bad for anyone who did it. Even a hard landing is not a 1970s, 1980s style hard landing.
