I'd Been a Junior Fellow at Harvard, but I Was Not Considered for That
I was a nobody as a graduate sudent, but no one knew. And then the minute i got appointed junior fellow, suddenly all the faculty at harvard knew who I was. It was very difficult to be surrounded by people and have this expectation that i was something special when i hadn't really done anything special at all. But you didn't have to teach. The thing that the society encouraged me was to go beyond just physics. So while i was there, i actually, iad decided i wanted to write some books, more generally on science and culture.
