The difficulty and maybe the lack of clarity on an exact number of people that might be killed by AI in the future is not a counter argument to the fact that this could be a really big problem. The characters in my book did this bank shot that effective altruism kind of dreamed up. A lot of early EA stuff was kind of focused on, hey, we're just a very small movement. Maybe we should figure out ways to more effectively direct philanthropic funds towards more impactful organizations.
