The No-Sebo Effect of Statins
Even with the muscle aches, there's significant controversy. The argument is you can't compare muscle aches to heart attacks. Steve Nissen, for example, calls it a no-sebo effect in which the person is told statins cause muscle aches and therefore they say they have statin-induced muscle aches. There are some very poorly designed studies that support that.
