i often say the bible is a cultural icon in the west. For some of my students, these texts are sacred to them or special them. And for other students, they're just further examples of ancient literature. There's an assumption sometimes that because i'm teaching thei stuff, most people think th they might seem ol shes jeish. But actually there is much more diversity in terms of the positions that students come with depending on their faith.
