The Iliad: The Chaos of the Homeric World
Homer's Iliad is about a shifting, uncertain universe where the only certainties are martial power and exercises of this power that lead to legends. The utter chaos of the Homeric world is at times one of the things that makes it so riveting. While they're immortal, Homer's gods suffer from all sorts of pains and indignities.
