Marvin Gaye, Sr.
Marvin Gaye's first album was not a success. He changed the spelling of his surname from Gay to G-A-Y-E. Was inspired by Sam Cook, whose career he wanted to emulate. Also didn't want to be thought of as anything other than heterosexual. His father wore women's clothing and Marvin confused sexuality and gender.
