The Importance of Reclaiming Words

I don't think coining a new concept for a problem is quite the same as labelling someone in a rather, you know, dramatic and shorthand kind of fashion. Most people who are users of English have no way of dealing with this at all. They just get on with life and use the language that they're used to. But what about people from marginalised communities reclaiming words? Where does that fit into this? So, if you have hip-hop styles using the N-word or gay people reclaiming the word queer, they are pirating the word, aren't they?
