The Importance of Whale Hunting in Japan

MacArthur ordered the Japanese to go all in on whale hunting. There was at least a little bit of self-interest here. Whale hunt will help alleviate Japan's food shortage and ultimately save over 20 billion dollars for American taxpayers. During the 20th century alone, an estimated 3 million whales were killed by Norway, Japan, the Soviet Union and Britain.
