The Environmental Factor in Children
As humans we've developed over hundreds of thousands of years where boy if we see a tiger we recognize danger in the environment and we're not going to let it touch us. You can see that in children as they develop as the kids that are wrapped in bubble wrap by their parents then they can handle pain easier. If everyone around them laughs and jokes all right they're going to get back up or if everyone around them panics depending on the person they might panic more as well so this i think there are a lot of real world examples where people take cues from each other which is exactly what you said is through the eye contact whether it's through how we react and how we respond
