The Origins of Persimmon

The name in Arabic comes from the Persian word or combination of words, harmalu. Harma means date as in like the fruit of the day tree and then alu, that means plum because the taste of it reminded people of a combination of a date and plum. The one thing I do not know is that when I lived in the bakaf or short period, some people call that karma. But if it makes any difference, some people in Hallep and Aleppo in Syria, they would call it manga halabi. So Aleppo mango.
