The Importance of Critique in the American West
When I initially heard that there were people in the desert protesting solar development, I also thought or assumed that they were nimbi. That is the framework that we're used to thinking about these issues; it's a question of private property versus questions of public good. When I met these people, I think what I found so interesting about them and what made me write the article is that I felt they were actually trying to make this very important critique.
