Detachment Nihilism

The idea of being detached doesn't sound like a particularly attractive idea to the Western mind. I think we innately are sort of trained to be passionate to try to reach things with all of our passion, right? And it's just a matter of doing that and engaging in life being passionate about life but not clinging to your idea of how things should be.
