'Outsider Art' by John Masel

In 19 79, roger cardinal put together an exhibition with a victor musgrave at the heyward gallery in london. It was called outsiders, an art without precedent or tradition. And it starts to bring in this story of self taught artists in america that came up through modern primitives and am, and folk art  and african America's south. Am is seen by many as one of the most influential books on outsider art ever written. The book has since been re-framed for contemporary audiences using different terms such as 'art brute' and 'outliers'
