The world is an appearance, and like a dream, it's appearing in consciousness. Chin maya means pervaded by consciousness. There's a funny story about this in uter kashi. Tthe ar debates between non duallists and dualists. The dualists claim that the world is real. Non dualists say, brahma satiam jagat mitya, brahman is real. So there was a great non duelist master, a monk, hod was not interested in debating. But since they were losing the debate, they ran to the hut in which the monk lived. "The objects of knowledge, viz., sound, touch, etc., which are perceived in the waking state, are different from each other because of their peculiarities; but the consciousness of these, which is different from them, does not differ because of its homogeneity."
